Arts Council Wood Buffalo Celebrates INCredible Milestone at Construction Kick-off Event for Arts INC Fort McMurray, AB, September 12, 2024 – Arts Council Wood Buffalo (ACWB) marked a significant milestone in the development of Arts INC with the INCredible Beginnings construction kick-off event held on Wednesday, September 11, at the Pomeroy Hotel.
The event celebrated the first phase of construction on Arts INC, a transformative project that will enhance the region’s arts and culture landscape. The event was attended by key community members and leaders, including MP Laila Goodridge, Mayor Sandy Bowman, and Councilor Lance Bussieres, who all showed their support for the initiative. Also present were INCredible Campaign Launch Partners Bouchier and Syncrude, operated by Suncor, whose contributions have been instrumental in bringing this project to life. The event concluded with a blessing for good construction at Arts INC, led by Elder Bernadette Dumais, symbolizing a strong foundation for the work ahead.
“Today marks a momentous step forward in realizing the vision of Arts INC as a vibrant hub for creativity and collaboration in our community,” said Liana Wheeldon, Executive Director of Arts Council Wood Buffalo. “We are thrilled to see this project come to life and are deeply grateful for the support of our community leaders, partners, and residents who share our passion for fostering arts and culture in Wood Buffalo.”
The Arts INC project is set to be a cornerstone for artistic expression, providing a dedicated space for artists, performers, and cultural organizations to create, collaborate, and connect. The full design package for the project is completed and Phase 1 renovation is set to commence in Fall 2024.
Arts INC aims to create a purposeful community space where art and creativity can thrive, offering artists and community members opportunities to discover, create, and showcase their work. The $3 million INCredible! Community fundraising campaign seeks charitable donations from business, families, and individuals to advance the development of the Arts INC project. Many recognition opportunities are available, including naming rights for rooms and spaces.
